Beers

Every beer you've tried, ranked

A beer rating app without the social network. Score taste, smell, and look with your own weights, log brewery, style, and ABV, and build the definitive personal beer list. Private by default, free forever.

  • No signup needed
  • Local-first
  • Optional free cloud backup

A rating system that tastes like you

One number can't hold taste, smell, and look. Rate them separately, weight them your way.

Weighted dimensions

The Beers template gives each beer one overall score, with taste, smell, and look alongside as optional detail. Set the overall rating to “Computed from dimensions” and taste counts double, or pick your own weights.

Fields built for beer

Brewery, style, ABV, price, a photo of the pour, and tasting notes come ready out of the box. Add your own fields for anything else, like the bar you tried it at.

Tier lists for the group chat

Beers auto-sort into S-D tiers from their scores. Drag to adjust, export a clean PNG share card, and let the debate begin.

A private alternative to Untappd

Untappd made beer logging social: check-ins, badges, a feed of what everyone's drinking. If you'd rather just remember which hazy IPA actually deserved the hype, RateTheThings is the quiet version. Your beer list lives in your browser, works offline as a PWA (bar basements included), and stays on your device unless you sign in, which turns on the free cloud backup.

Pairwise ranking is where it gets fun: quick “which beer was better?” duels turn years of drinking into one consistent all-time leaderboard, no agonizing over whether something is an 8.2 or an 8.4. And with a free account you can invite a friend to compare taste and see your agreement percentage and biggest disagreements side by side.

Not just beer? The same app handles restaurants, movies, coffee, cocktails, and anything else you can put in a list.

Beer tracker questions

The short, honest answers.

Does it work offline at the bar?

Yes. It's a PWA, so once loaded it works fully offline. Rate the beer in a basement taproom with no signal: it saves on your phone, and if you're signed in, the backup catches up once you're back online.

How is this different from Untappd?

Untappd is a social check-in network. RateTheThings is a private beer journal: no feed, no badges, no account required. You rate taste, smell, and look separately with your own weights, and get a personal ranked list and tier list.

Can I import my Untappd check-ins?

Yes. Import your Untappd export and it is recognized automatically: beer names, ratings, and check-in dates come straight in. Any other CSV works too, with column mapping.

Is the beer tracker free?

Yes. Lists, ratings, ranking, tiers, stats, and Wrapped are all free with no limits, and no account is required.
